Lucas is a junior at Hunter College High School, a school for gifted and talented students, in Manhattan. But more importantly, he’s a student of history. With a passionate interest in the historical world, Lucas has sought to cultivate this interest through in-school experiences, such as actively engaging in his honors History classes, including AP history and government courses, as well as self-directed research and reading.
Additionally, Lucas has had the opportunity to travel to Europe experiencing the rich history of countries such as Germany, Italy, England, France, and Spain, while also traveling within the United States to Philadelphia, Washington D.C., Boston, and more.
Through his travels, Lucas has had the privilege of being on several guided tours allowing him to absorb the history of these places thoroughly. It was on these trips that Lucas realized that there was a distinct lack of younger tour guides; guides who could be more relatable to those children of the parents paying for tours.
Seeking to give an experience tailored to those around his age while allowing them to learn about the rich history of New York City, Lucas started Historia Urbanis
(translating from Latin to English as “History of The City”) in pursuit of that goal. Believing that not only can he give high-quality tours about the city he has spent over 16 years in, but that he can do so in a clear manner that contextualizes the city within the broader framework of history and the world.
